We are looking for staff analysts to assist in the preparation of testimony for antitrust, merger and regulatory cases. applEcon provides economic analysis and consulting services to a diverse range of clients. Our work typically involves industrial organization, competitive strategy, and damages in various industries.
The position involves extensive reading of confidential documents, gathering numeric data and textual evidence, data analysis, and report writing. Requires strong research and organizational skills, ability to assimilate large amounts of information and understand the relevance of information to numerous aspects of complex litigation. Prefer undergraduate and/or master’s degree in economics, but will consider applicants with degrees in mathematics, statistics, computer science, public policy or information science.
A successful candidate will have many or all of the following skills:
· Computer: Strong MS Word and Excel skills required; Access, Stata, network administration and other programming skills a plus
· Research: Strong familiarity with Web-based information retrieval and evaluation
· Thorough understanding of microeconomics and its application to firms
· Statistics: Facility with descriptive statistics (mean, variance) essential; experience with regression analysis a plus
