Dr. Netz was an Associate Professor of Economics, with tenure, at Purdue University when she resigned to join ApplEcon in 2001. Dr. Netz also taught, as a Visiting Associate Professor, at the University of Michigan. She has taught courses in Industrial Organization, Antitrust and Regulation, Microeconomic Theory, and International Economics at the undergraduate, masters, and doctoral level. Dr. Netz has published papers in peer-reviewed journals on several topics. She began her consulting career in 1988 with a case in the travel industry.
Dr. Netz has consulted in antitrust litigation on both liability and damages and has offered testimony related to class certification and damages issues. She has consulted on matters involving the personal computer software, mainframe, and microprocessor industries, among others. She has been the expert witness in cases involving Microsoft software, PCP and EPDM chemicals, alder lumber, and clean-air gasoline.
